A Game of Medieval Warfare and Diplomacy

Setup & Reference

The King lies dead without an heir. Fortresses will fall, cities will be razed — and a King will be crowned.

Choose your player count, the Crown and Glory variants and any optional rules for exact setup steps, a full rules reference with the official FAQ and errata applied, and a search of every rulebook.

The Barons Assemble

Select the sets on the table, the number of Barons, and any variants. Every step, ruling and script below adapts to your choices.

Sets in play

Barons (players: two to six)

Crown and Glory variants — use any combination; players agree before the game

Game length

Optional rules — from the rulebook (p.19–20) and the FAQ (p.3); all players agree on them at the start

Setup

Follow the steps in order; each cites its sources. Citations: Rules = the rulebook (printed page numbers), FAQ = the January 2007 FAQ, C&G = the Crown and Glory rules sheet (unnumbered: its four pages are counted 1–4 in reading order). FAQ errata are already applied, and each Crown and Glory change applies when the variant that makes it (For Glory, Missions or The King) is selected.
