The fleet of Horus hangs in orbit over the ravaged world. The defenders of Terra stand ready.
Choose your scenario, sides and seat for exact setup steps, a rules reference with the official FAQ and errata applied, a teaching script and a search of the rulebook and Scenario Guide.
The War Council
Horus Heresy is a two-player game: the Imperial player defends Terra, the Traitor player leads Horus’s assault. Pick how you are choosing scenario and sides (and, for two experienced players, the scenario), whether the pieces still need building, and whose screen this is. Every step, ruling and script below adapts.
Scenario & sides the rulebook’s three situations (Rules p.12)
Scenario the Scenario Guide’s six (Scenarios p.2–10)
Playing pieces first game assembly or reset (Rules p.10–11)
Your seat marks your side’s tasks — nothing in the setup is hidden; the teaching script gives your side’s tip
Optional table aids memory aids the rulebook suggests; no rule changes
Setup
Follow the steps in order. Each cites its source pages (Rules = the rulebook, Scenarios = the Scenario Guide, FAQ = FAQ and Errata v1.0); the FAQ’s errata are already applied. The scenario-setup steps are your scenario’s, from the Scenario Guide.
Components
Every playing component in the rulebook’s list (the Scenario Guide booklet is left out), with its count and, where the rulebook pictures it, its picture. The special tokens show only for the scenarios that use them. Tap a picture to enlarge it.
Rules Reference
Tap a heading to open it. FAQ errata and rulings are applied and labelled; where the FAQ and the rulebook differ, the FAQ wins.
Search the Rulebook
Answers from this page come first, then every matching page of the rulebook, the Scenario Guide (its six scenarios and “The Siege of Terra”) and the official FAQ and Errata.
